Life Of An Adventurer

First aid Training Courses to add to your Skill Set.

Unfortunately the types of activities that we pursue are ones that can lead to accidents and even death. I made a decision a long time ago not to be someone who stands on the sidelines and to get trained so that I am able to help others. Sometimes we are hours away from Medical Services or communication devices don’t work.

In my years I have assisted from jellyfish stings to vehicle fires to dead bodies. It is like having car insurance. You may never need it but it is better to have if the situation ever arises. There is nothing worse than being at a scene of a accident and not being able to do anything.

For this reason I believe that it is important to go and get the proper instruction from the professionals. They are relatively affordable and will make you more confidant in your abilities. Later on if you choose you can become an Instructor and use your certifications to make some money or to lead into a career field.

The following will be a list of some of the Top Of The Line Agencies that offer First Aid Training that will help you in an Adventurous Life. There are many more out there but these are some of the many that I have attended. To find one near you just put in the terms into the browser and away you go.

American Red Cross. https://www.redcross.org/
From CPR Classes to First Aid to Lifeguarding. Very affordable and you can find a location near you. After completion you will also be able to get Instructor Certification.

Cert Training (Community Emergency Team) https://californiavolunteers.ca.gov/community-emergency-re…/

CERT is a positive and realistic approach to emergency and disaster situations where citizens may initially be on their own and their actions can make a difference. While people will respond to others in need without the training, one goal of the CERT program is to help them do so effectively and efficiently without placing themselves in unnecessary danger. In the CERT training, citizens learn to:

• manage utilities and put out small fires,
• treat the three medical killers by opening airways, controlling bleeding, and treating for shock,
• provide basic medical aid,
• search for and rescue victims safely,
• organize themselves and spontaneous volunteers to be effective,
• and collect disaster intelligence to support first responder efforts.

EMT (EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN)

A specially trained medical technician certified to provide basic emergency services (as cardiopulmonary resuscitation) before and during transportation to a hospital. Requires approximately 184 hours in California.

NOLS Wilderness First Aid Courses https://www.nols.edu/en/courses/

Prepare for the unexpected with this engaging, hands-on introduction to wilderness medicine, taught over two or two and a half days. If you like to take short trips relatively close to medical resources, work at wilderness camps, enjoy weekend family outdoor activities, or recreate outdoors, this course is for you.
This course is great for people of all experience levels, and is best suited for those who recreate outdoors where EMS response can be expected in a timely manner (fewer than eight hours). You’ll learn the Patient Assessment System, how to provide effective first aid treatments for injuries and illnesses common in the outdoors, and how to make appropriate evacuation decisions.

If I get enough interest I will host a two day Wilderness First Aid Course from NOLS.

I am going to try to make a go of this Adventure Stuff. Please like and share me. We will have the Website up shortly. LifeOfAnAdventurer.com as well as Instagram Life.Of.An.Adventurer and our Facebook page.

Please remember that Life Is An Adventure and you must live it every day!
